L'Atelier How long ago did you start your business and what has been your experience so far?

Summer I started Labelle Atelier in September 2015. I had just quit my job and with no clear sense of direction or solid plan, I jumped right in. At first I didn't really know what my branding was going to be like or anything, I just knew I had the knowledge and motivation to offer quality, personalized service. I am still learning as I go!

L'Atelier Do you consider yourself to be a creative entrepreneur? 

Summer I'm not sure if I am considered a creative entrepreneur but I definitely see myself as one. I have full control of my branding, skin care programs, and social media content. I guess it takes creativity to go off the manual.

L'Atelier How do you approach skin care consultation?

Summer When I examine a person's skin, it's like doing detective work. I consider many factors including what the client is currently using at home and what their lifestyle and habits are like to really get to the root of the problem. Most skin care specialists will give you a "bandaid" solution such as an expensive cream that will work as a quick fix but that's not necessarily providing what your skin really needs. I also never pressure my clients to buy anything, I evaluate their condition and offer my opinion but it's up to them to decide what they want to do next.

L'Atelier Now that your studio has been operating for quite some time, do you have any plans to expand your brand?

Summer Yes, for sure! My background is in ingredient formulation and my 5 year goal is to develop my own product line.
