L’Atelier Member Feature: Faris Khalifeh

Faris is a quiet leadership coach and is going to be at the space every Tuesday at 12:00 pm starting jan 10th to have lunch conversations with anyone who wants to talk about personality types and leadership styles while having lunch!

Where are you from/ where did you grow up? Any stories from your past that you'd like to share?

I was born in Amman, Jordan and moved to Dubai with my family when I was 12 years old. I lived in Dubai for 23 years and during my time there I completed my BBA and started a career in advertising and marketing. It was interesting growing up in Dubai – I saw how it evolved throughout the years. It was a very different city back then. There weren’t any huge skyscrapers or an indoor ski resort – it was sandy roads and quiet neighbourhoods, my friends and I used to cross the highways with our bicycles!

What do you do/ what are you passionate about and why did you choose to do what you do? Any exciting projects to share or maybe an unknown facts about your line of work?

I am a Quiet Leadership Coach. I coach introverts to build on their strengths as quiet leaders, understand their temperament and make it work for them. I’m an introvert myself and I’m passionate about exploring the different personality types. I believe knowing yourself is the foundation of successful leadership.

Before becoming a coach, I was in the corporate world in different marketing and business development roles. After working in that field for 13 years, I decided to pursue something I was passionate about since the age of 18: self-development and coaching.

During that period, my wife was also looking for a change in her career. So we both decided to  quit our jobs and move to a new city. Vancouver just felt like the right place for us! When we moved to Vancouver, I enrolled in a 1 year/full time coaching and counselling program. After getting my certification, I started my coaching practice and I decided to focus on Quiet Leadership.

Is this your first time coworking? What made you choose to work at L'Atelier, what's your favourite thing about the space/ environment?

It’s my first coworking space in Vancouver. I used to work from different coworking places in Dubai. L’Atelier is my favorite because of the design, vibe, community and the services L’Atelier has to offer!
